The Course Experience
Everyone will have a 1-2-1 Oboe or Cor Anglais lesson with Alison, chamber music coaching, Ensemble and chamber music performance, masterclasses, reed making skills, technique discussions, and work with resident pianist Claudio Chaiquin for a farewell soiree to share our music together. ​In addition there will be rhythm workshops with percussionist Richard Benjafield, visits to Piégut-Pluviers market and the Farmers' Night market at the medieval town of Ségur-le-Château.
The programme for the ensemble concert on the 20th August, takes its inspiration from the clear skies at night over Champagnac-la-Rivière. The concert program will range from solos, small chamber works and large ensembles. An enthusiastic audience will be ready to celebrate your work.
Keen local astronomer Peter McGivern will give a talk about the constellations to us more insight. Richard and Alison will give a duo recital on the 18th August which you are invited to attend, and we have two young professional musicians on hand to assist. The course is limited to 12 participants to ensure everyone's needs are catered for.

The Course fee is £700 for the week, this includes, all tuition, concerts, lunches, and three dinners.
Also included is transport to and from Limoges airport or railway station, course venues and cultural trips.

We will include airport /railway transfers from Limoges, lunches, and 3 evening dinners. There are trips to the night farmer market at Segur-le-Chateau, a trip to a local supermarket for supplies, should you be in self catering accomodation without a car, and a visit to Piegut market.

Although all rehearsal and concert venues are within walking distance from each other, we'll ensure that there is transport between them. All tuition, and concerts are included.
Requested transfers from Bergerac and Bordeaux airports will incur a small fee of £15 each way for the 2 1/4 hour journey
Guaranteed Success
Around the region there are a host of interesting places to visit and experience. In addition to food and wine, there are lots of brocantes (antique shops) outdoor swimming lakes, canoeing and following the tour of Richard the Lion Heart. This route tracks his path around the impressive chateaus of the region He was killed at Chalûs Castle, just a few miles away from Champagnac.

Limoges is famous not only for the market depicted in Mussorgsky's Pictures at the Exhibition, but also for its beautiful porcelain, the gothic cathedral, and the herds of Limousin cattle. If you have a few days spare on either side of the course we would recommend taking time to explore the Limousin region.
This course is an excellent way for participants to learn a new skill or continue expanding an existing skill. As one of the most popular courses we offer, there are classes available at many different times to fit all types of schedules. What's not included
Accommodation, breakfast, and some dinners are not included in the price.
There is a list of recommended hotels/gites/B&B and campsites on the accommodation page.
Drinks and food on excursions are not included, but transport to the destinations is.
The course, and concerts are fully insured, however personal travel cover will need to be provided by yourself and proof shown before attending the course.
We can provide some airport and train transfers as detailed one the travel pages. Outside of these times, personal arrangements will have to made.
